Home & School Chores

Completing chores at home and school is an important daily living skill that helps students develop responsibility, independence, and organization. For students who are blind or have low vision, chores may require direct instruction because many tasks are often learned through visual observation. Learning to complete chores helps students develop routines for caring for their environment and personal belongings. These responsibilities also build practical skills such as organization, problem-solving, and task completion. When students regularly participate in chores, they gain confidence in their ability to contribute to their home, classroom, and community. With appropriate instruction and practice, students who are blind or visually impaired can complete many household and classroom responsibilities independently.
