Managing challenges and safety skills help students who are blind or visually impaired recognize, respond to, and navigate difficult situations with confidence and independence. Instruction focuses on personal safety, understanding boundaries, responding to teasing or bullying, making safe decisions, and interacting respectfully with others. Students also develop social etiquette and problem-solving skills that support positive relationships and successful participation in school, community, and social environments. Strong safety and self-management skills promote confidence, self-advocacy, and greater independence.
