Strong organization skills also support executive functioning, responsibility, and independence in both school and real-world environments. Organization skills help students who are blind or visually impaired manage materials, track assignments, and maintain independence across school and daily life. Because visual cues such as location, color coding, and visual scanning may be limited or unavailable, students require direct instruction in systematic methods for organizing physical and digital materials. Instruction focuses on helping students develop consistent systems for storing belongings, organizing school supplies, maintaining accessible workspaces, and locating materials efficiently. These skills reduce frustration, increase independence, and support academic success by ensuring students can quickly find and manage the materials they need.
