Phone use skills help students who are blind or visually impaired communicate independently, access information and services, and respond effectively in emergency situations. Instruction focuses on making and receiving calls, using accessible phone features, managing contacts, and communicating clearly with others. Students also learn how to use phones to seek assistance, contact emergency services, and share important information when needed. Developing strong phone skills promotes independence, safety, confidence, and effective communication across home, school, and community environments.
