The Perkins Brailler is a complex mechanical device, so repairing it requires specialized skills. Properly maintaining the brailler will ensure it remains in good condition. If your brailler has stopped working, it may simply need to be cleaned and oiled to function properly again. Follow the step-by-step YouTube on properly cleaning and oiling the brailler. Before you begin, be sure you have all the supplies you will need.
One Compartmentalized Tray (such as an ice cube tray)
One 1.75 oz Tube of Lubriplate Grease (Lubriplate grease, also known as "Aero Grease" is used to lubricate important brailler ware points, particularly on screw drive openers.)
One 2 oz Bottle of Brailler Oil
Cleaning Solvent (neutral, petroleum-based mineral spirits, or equal)
The following are more instructional tutorials available on YouTube that can walk you through the repair process if there isn't someone available to repair the braillewriter for you. Be warned that only the ambitious should attempt to undertake this task!
