I receive many inquiries from school districts, agencies, and service providers seeking to hire Teachers of Students with Visual Impairments (TVIs) or Orientation & Mobility (O&M) Specialists, as well as from professionals actively looking for job opportunities. To support both groups, I created this page to help promote openings within the field of visual impairments and make it easier for employers and candidates to connect.
If you would like to post a job vacancy, please follow the instructions provided on the Post a Job page of this site. This ensures listings are clear, complete, and accessible to those seeking opportunities in our field.
Even though there is a strong and growing demand for Teachers of Students with Visual Impairments (TVIs) and Orientation and Mobility (O&M) Specialists, these positions can still be surprisingly difficult to locate. This challenge exists for several reasons. Many school districts are unsure where to post their vacancies, are limited in the platforms they can use, or are restricted by budget in how widely they can advertise. As a result, qualified professionals may not see available positions—even when districts urgently need to fill them.
To help bridge this gap, I created this page as a space where school systems, agencies, and service providers can post openings directly. My goal is to make it easier for both employers and job seekers to connect within the field of visual impairment services. In addition to checking this page, job seekers may find these strategies helpful:
Visit the websites of school districts, regional service centers, and state agencies in the area where you hope to work. Many positions are listed internally before they appear on larger job boards.
Explore listservs, Google Groups, professional email lists, and Facebook groups dedicated to TVIs, O&M specialists, assistive technology, and special education. These communities often share openings quickly, sometimes even before formal postings go live.
Network with professional organizations and university preparation programs, as they frequently circulate announcements about vacancies and internship opportunities.
By using a combination of these resources, candidates can stay informed about current job openings and increase their chances of finding positions that match their skills and preferred locations.
