Teaching the ECCIt can feel overwhelming to Teachers of Students with Visual Impairments, to think it is your responsibility to ensure all areas of the Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC) are addressed. Keep in mind that not all students will need to be instructed in each area. Additionally, remember that although you are responsible for ensuring all needed areas in the ECC are addressed with each student, YOU don't necessarily need to teach every ECC skill. This is where teamwork is important. This page provides suggestions on orchestrating the ECC.

ECC Song Playlist![]() Having students write and read song lyrics is a fun way to build braille literacy for students who love music! I've created these Spotify Playlists to make the incorporation of songs a part of instruction. Of course, these can also just be a fun way to pass time driving between schools! Happy listening!

Job tasks incorporate fine motor skills, activities of daily living and prepare the student for future jobs making these an excellent tool for teaching students who are blind or visually impaired. Job tasks provide the student with an opportunity to practice sorting, assembling, or packaging according to instruction to complete a task, practice skills and transfer skills to new tasks using different materials.
